Ok, just thought I would ask. I was going to download the trial of RLM, but wanted a few questions answered first. Glad I asked, because this sounds like it would have been an 'absolute' failure for sure. Then that would have steered me away and I never would have give RLM a fair shake. Love the concept of RLM.


One more question, I assume RLM re-sizes background images, but what if you have an image that is kind of complex, would you be able to have it change the background image for a smaller device like a cell phone?

If you are talking specifically about "background images" and not just regular images then the answer would be no. Currently there is no support for background images in the RLMP. You can select a background color to each row or column but if you want background images you will have to manually code this.

If I am wrong here please feel free to chime in. I haven't mastered the RLMP and there may be little goodies that I have not seen yet.

But for the most part it scales images based on ratios you can predefine.

Responsive Layout Maker does not allow for Background images. This is something that would be added after export.

As to regular images, we have plans to add a feature that will allow you to swap out the image. So in Desktop it is one image that is 800x800 at the next breakpoint it could be 600x600 the next 300x300, or whatever resolution the image is. Just note that you will need to supply the images RLM will not do that for you.

This would be awesome. I was looking into doing myself within the code. I would gladly let RLM do it for me.

Yea this would be great! I have been just using the display:none; when it gets to a breakpoint I want the image to change. Can't wait for this update

Not sure actually how RLM does this, but images are scaled with the viewport. My guess is, it is the same image that is served for each screen size, not quite sure about this though.

By using media queries, it is possible to serve different images to different screen sizes and resolutions, and I think this will be implemented in RLM some day, but AFAIK until then it has to be done manually after export.

If someone can prove me wrong here, so much the better!

It's all good. I got my answer plus some
