It's just like I said before. They may be working on new features all the time, that's wonderful. But the problem is that the feature(s) mentioned here is not being considered at all as mentioned in several responses. When a company says we think it's a good idea and may implement this in a future version, yes we can and should be patient and wait. That indicates a commitment by the company. But this is not being done. Instead the programmer's perspective is being placed before the customer's.
I generally do not have a problem with CC software, many of their products are very useful. This cart system was inexpensive enough so I took a chance on purchasing it. I can't use it in its present state, but I didn't lose much. This seemed like a small convenient program to use for smaller projects. But there's other things I can use that can do what I need, in some cases, for free. What offends me are postings here that insult others because they may desire a certain feature that some think is stupid because they cannot look beyond their own perspective and consider the customer's. My comments and feature requests here have always been from considering a customer's perspective. They are the ones that pay us.

I don't think there is any intention here to insult anyone. Everyone is just expressing their opinions, that's all. Which is what I believe forums are for. I can't speak for anyone else, but I've been retailing for 18 years now in the same business, so I think I do have an idea on how to please and keep a customer. Some of the payment ideas on here are clearly made by inexperienced sellers that will eventually get burned by their ideas. Just because a customer wants to do things a certain way doesn't make it the right way for the retailer. I speak from gobs of experience here. Doing it the wrong way a few times is probably not going to get you in trouble. Make a habit out of it, and after enough transactions you will get burned.
From CC's standpoint, I would want all the process's I develop for selling online to stand up to scrutiny over time. Clearly some of these payment ideas wouldn't, and if I was developing the cart I would not include them just to satisfy a few amateur sellers. These same people would probably sue CC if they used a backdoor payment method and got burned. As many have said, there are other cart options out there if you want a different method to get paid. And there are even workarounds to do it with this cart.
I've said all I plan to on this subject. If I've saved one person the heartache and headache of losing money on a transaction then I'm happy, and all this discussion will have been worth it. Yes, keeping customers happy is important, but keeping the money after the sale's completed is even more important. And ultimately that is what a shopping cart should be designed to do.

Per chance I was just called an "inexperienced seller"? LOL
That's rich, thanks so much for the compliment, I've not felt so young in well... 20 years.
Points been made and shots been exchanged.
I think the OP should know, your concern is valid, CC Shopping cart does not currently support it, there are ways to work around it, it may be included in a future release or it may not.

Robert,
That comment wasn't made about anyone in particular.
But a lot of these payment ideas have clearly been made by someone that hasn't had a transaction reversed by their credit card processor or they would know better than to recommend it to others. I don't think that applies to you since you simply want a way to receive payment by check, money order, etc. and I do think that's a valid request that CC will probably implement someday. I don't know as I am just one of their customers also.
Just to clarify, My comment about inexperienced sellers was about accepting card payments offline since they don't like paypal. This way of taking payment will eventually burn them, and retailers selling hundreds of items a day (experienced) will know that better than a hobbyist selling a few items a day (inexperienced) since they most likely have had a charge back or two. There is nothing more disheartening than getting a charge back that not only costs you the money you thought you made, but also the product you sold.
As I said earlier, if I save one person the headache of losing their hard earned money, then all this typing will have been worth it.
Now THAT really is the last I will say on the matter.

Credit card chargebacks are a combination of many things not just the experience of the seller, Craig.
The MOST important factor is the nature of the business. A jewerly store in business for over 30 years who decides to add online ordering is bound to have more exposure to chargebacks then a low risk online merchant in business for 6 days.... the nature of the types of businesses.
In addition, PayPal's seller protection is HORRIFIC when it comes to chargebacks so processing online through PayPal offers no more protection then an offline processing system.
I for one am extremely hopeful that CC will add other payment options.
The value of a shopping cart to offer online transactions is one benefit for many. Another often overlooked benefit of a shopping cart system however, is for companies to use the software to build an online catalog of products that is easily navigated by their customers online.
We accept credit cards at our company but billing is by far the preffered method because we have long standing relationships with our customers. They have ordered products from us for years. Our customers don't place an order with us 1 time, then check a competitors online pricing the following day and order from them.... it's the value of a relationship.
For us, having an easy to use, quick method of posting products online for us customers to search through, add to a cart and submit to us in an email is valuable. How they pay is not a concern.... it's about presenting our products in a neat, clear manner and having the customer be able to submit them through a cart system.
