Paypal allows for a merchant payment with or without a Paypal account. This feature can be turned on or off in the profile section of your account. Profile>Website Payment Preferences>Paypal Account Optional.

CC Shopping Cart only calls up the sign up to Paypal page for someone to make a payment. The software should allow for both methods. Not everyone purchasing something on the web wants to join PayPal. The software as such is restricting payment methods.

When PayPal Account Optional is turned on, your customers who are new to PayPal will no longer be required to create a PayPal account to complete a purchase—they will go through an alternate checkout, and will have the option to sign up afterward. Customers who already have PayPal accounts will continue to enjoy the privileges of those accounts, such as payment history and integration with eBay Auctions, and their checkout experience will remain the same.

This feature is available for Buy Now, Donations, and Shopping Cart buttons, but not for Subscription buttons.

Note: If you have turned on Auto Return and have chosen to turn on PayPal Account Optional for new users, a new user will not be automatically directed back to your website, but will be given the option to return.

We use the PayPal Express option so that we can use the shopping basket feature. If you take a look at http://www.coffeecup.com/shopping-cart/ … a.764.html it will show you how your users will see the page when the checkout.

Is there any way to bypass the PayPal Create an Account screen and pay by credit card without setting up a PayPal account?

I'm afraid that some buyers will drop off at that point.

If there isn't a way to go direct to PayPal's page for paying with a cc without registering, I hope that you are considering this for a future release.

Not at this time. With the way PayPal Express works, this is the only option. However the creation of an account is tied in with the order process. According to PayPal's documentation PayPal Express has the highest conversion rates.

As I understand what I read at PayPal it has to do with the submit button. It's going directly to the sign up or login page. There are a few choices of code to use from what I see. However, I've been know to be wrong lol You should be able to pay for something with a credit card without subscribing to PayPal. That's what they say and that's how my old shopping card worked for people.

My existing system allows for credit payments through PayPal WITHOUT signing up.

In fact the vast majority of purchases that I make online using PayPal do NOT require me to log in to my PayPal account.

CoffeeCup this must be changed. I don't care if PayPal say the conversion rates are high, they have been known to pull swifties in the past.

Customers WANT to buy... they do NOT want to sign up to THIRD PARTY company in order to do so.

Ah, think I have discovered the problem! My old cart only required to get on with an email address and password. (That's all PayPal requires) Coffee Cup Shopping Cart is using Payment>API which must be filled out. This seems to be the only difference and it doesn't work without the API.

This has to change! PayPal gives people the option not to have a PayPal account to pay! (so should CC Shopping Cart)

Well, I wish I had seen this thread before I purchased the program and spent more than 30 minutes building a new shopping cart. This is not acceptable and borders on being misrepresented. To be held captive by PayPal is just wrong.
