True, but you are forgetting the main thing here. This is not a generational tool. It is made to be responsive. To whatever age, sex, race, size the user has or uses.

People get older yes, I know, but those people also have children that than use those small devices once again.

I see a lot of "old folks" looking at stuff on their phones. I even find myself doing it.
Just don't make your paragraph text tiny when it goes to one column, keep it around 14-16px (with an appropriate line-height for the font) and it's no harder to read than on a laptop or pad.
