Looking for more control over Home...
I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous. During my working careen I became pretty proficient with 4GL by reading and adapting programs. Now I'm trying to apply that approach here. Boy do I feel dumb. I noodled around and found this file:
C:\Program Files\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup ShoppingCart\styles\Fleur-De-Lis_files\home.xml
Wonderful, I found the link to Coffee Cup near the end of the file so I thought I was on to something. I made a backup copy and tried to edit the file. It's write protected. Is there someway, remember I'm a blond, to be able to edit this file? I want to add Google Analytics and contact information to my home page. If I can master this, I want to reduce the size of the header and who knows what....
Thanks

I think I successfully added Google Analytics to my home page using the xml editor. It's take a day or so before I know if it worked. I was able to upload my file with the change. Now if it works, next is to add contact information. Then to reduce the height of the header.

Well, yes, my site is now being tracked by Google Analytics. Should I decide to use a different theme I'll have to edit it's home.xml file. I'm using another theme to experiment on and previewing it only. So far no success in making any other changes, e.g. adding contact information. I would like to add bold to store description but again, where. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Changing the presentation (making something bold) is done in the stylesheets (CSS file), rather than the XML files. I've only recently gained access to the shopping cart creator (my friend has "hired" (shanghied?) me as her new "technical staff"), so I haven't had an opportunity to delve, quite yet. However, once I do, I'll be able to provide a better answer. On the other hand, I'm not sure of the exact level of control CC expects (allows?) us to have over the styles/templates. I'm sure that, since they encourage us to create our own styles, they won't mind us mucking about to a degree.

Drat! Can't edit my own posts.
The CSS files reside in one of the zip files under the theme folder you're currently using. not knowing just how much knowledge you possess, I'm uncertain as to how to advise you further. Tell you what... You show me yours, and I'll show you mine.
(knowledge, that is)

Dave, I requested an advance copy of version 3.5. HTML is supported on the home page so I'm playing with it. Really good stuff. Now to see if I can add Google Analytics and contact information. Email Scott and he'll give you a link to download 3.5. Now back to the CC cart playground! Later.
Best of luck with that. Let us know how it comes out. I've grabbed Scott's email, and will request a copy shortly. I've read from a few others that they've found no bugs, and that the new features are great. Have a good evening, and I'll let everyone know how it fares for me.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
