Shopping Cart Restricts Paypal...

OK let me be more descriptive because this is one my major decision makers. I have built a website and have almost all of my products imported. If I were to use coffee cup shopping cart I would then have to do something with the products to get them into the coffee cup software INDIVIDUALLY? I have many products so just trying to figure out how time consuming this can be. Sorry to be such a pain, but I wanted to make sure this was for me and cover all my bases. :/

Yes, you would have to manually add them into Shopping Cart Creator. Right now there is no import function.

Yes you are right. Direct credit card payments will be in the next release. :D

Also, you're not restricted to PayPal. There is a Google Checkout module available right now. This gives your users two options, both of which are very popular and well respected. There was a study recently that showed something like 85% of people shopping online could and would pay with one of these two options. That's a huge audience to be able to reach with a piece of software that cost just $49 and a few clicks to get running ;)

So what Mr Cornelius said is not true? You do not plan on providing the option for "direct credit card payment" (not having to create a PayPal account). :/

We do have that ability now with our authorize.net module. You can purchase that at www.coffeecup.com/shopping-cart-creator

I'm not satisfied with the answers I've received to my queries for support either - I like very much the ease of Shopping Cart Creator. But it needs to work on a few items in near future releases, such as this thread, coupon codes, as well as better inventory control.

It's a great start to easy shopping cart software - but it can be truly first rate if it incorporates these items without obscure database driven, endless menus as for zencart and other shopping carts.

Also a feature request - digital downloads.

I spent 1.5 hours on the phone today with Paypal trying to figure out why my coffeecup shopping cart, when linked to my paypal "standard business" account would not let my customers pay by normal credit card without having a paypal account, like my other two shopping carts will. After speaking with several levels of tech support at paypal, I find out it is a glitch in coffee cup's software! When is this glitch going to be fixed??? We chose the "standard business" paypal account because it allowed our customers to use any credit card without having a paypal account and now I find out that my shopping cart software has a hole in it that won't allow the paypal account to do its job.

Please tell me when this software glitch is going to be solved. With the PCI DSS compliance requirements on all on-line merchant accounts, more and more business owners are going to be cancelling their merchant accounts and moving to a standard business paypal account to avoid the compliance headaches, however, if coffeecup has a glitch in your shopping cart software - it defeats the whole purpose. PLEASE ADVISE!

This is not a software glitch, this is how the software was designed. There are no immediate plans to make any changes in the way we work with PayPal in our standard version. We are considering other options for our Pro version due out later this year.

HI Scott,

I visited the article you referenced in your answer to me on the forum and I'm not sure you are getting it.... the article you referenced says that a customer doesn't have to sign-up for paypal BEFORE making their payment with any major credit card BECAUSE paypal will use the info they supply, to create an account for them AFTER they make their payment, whether they want a paypal account or not..... in a 'standard paypal' business account a customer NEVER has to have a paypal account before, during or after they use any major credit card that is processed using the paypal system. That is the advantage of the 'standard business' account through paypal. A customer who does NOT want to have a paypal account can use all major credit cards through paypal without ever setting up an account with them.

As I mentioned about the PCI DSS compliance issues now targeting every merchant who has an on-line merchant account, more and more small to medium sized businesses are going to be pulling the plug on their own merchant accounts to avoid the costs and hassles (20.00 per month fines if you cannot prove you are in compliance and the software to prove you are in compliance is running betwen 130.00 and 400.00 and requires it be loaded on every computer you use and reports to be run every quarter to try and prove you are in compliance). Businesses will instead turn to using the 'standard business' account with paypal because it allows merchants to let their customers use all major cards with or without them ever having a paypal account. That is the ultimate in versatility for merchants and customers. Our account with paypal is set up for those options, however, coffee cup is apparently not. That is the glitch that, if it were fixed, would make coffee cup shopping cart as attractive to business owners as a chocolate cake at a fat farm! I hope coffee cup can solve the problem. THANKS, Bonnie

I have to agree with Bonnie 100% and not sure coffeecup is getting whats being said here. A simple change i would think to correct it for better use.

We do understand that some users would like this feature, however it is not a simple flick of the switch. Eventually I am sure we will come up with something, but right now we are putting our efforts into more important features that users have asked for.
