Shopping Cart theme designer? #2 -...

The shopping cart software is great and really provides webmasters with a means to expand their site and start making profits. The pre-packaged themes are good, the add-on theme packs are great too.

But is the idea of a theme creator for this software worth considering? Like the Website Font SIFr converter, it would add a whole new dimension of flexibility to the software, as webmasters could tailor it to match their websites schemes if they wanted to.

I think a WYSIWYG editor with coding abilities would be good, or better yet how about an addon for the HTML Editor?

Just an idea :P

I like that idea and will double it. I'd love to be able to match the shopping cart to the theme of the current website. It's a sterling idea and one that's overdue.

Whatcha say, guys?

I just had another thought...how about a comments field or someplace a user can add input for the invoice. I'm trying to figure out how a user can define what, for example, they wanted inscribed on a plaque. It would be nice if they could enter that info and have it passed along on the invoice. I don't know if PayPal and/or Google are that flexible...but it's another thought.

CC is currently working on a Theme styler for the shopping cart which will enable you to customise your themes. I think it could be out this summer :)

You could use form builder to make a form on your main website, and then create a link in the item description to take them to the form. That's what I did with dog tags, and it works great. You get one email from paypal with the purchase details, and one email from the form with the inscription details.

Similar to what Craig does, I use Form Builder to make forms on my main website with personalization details for the items. I use the forms in a different way. After the user completes and submits the form they are redirected to the specific item in either the awards shop or the regular shop where they select any additional options. If they then shop more and add something to the cart, I e-mail them a form to complete.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
