Code cleaner to convert HTML 3 & 4 to...
Hi, I created a project in HTML Editor in a folder containing some HTML pages I had created earlier with a text editor using HTML4 transitional as a doctype. Since the default doctype for CC HTML Editor is HTML5, I was kinda hoping that if I changed doctype to <!DOCTYPE html> the cleaner would convert all code to acceptable HTML5 standard. But it just changed it back to HTML4 transitional.
Is there any way I can get Code Cleaner to work, and if not can anyone suggest a website or app for doing this conversion? I'd like to use CC HTML Editor as my default editor for this website from now on.
Thanks, Max
PS using CC HTML Editor v12

Hi Max, At the top of the editor click on "Document", then click on "Validate HTML". It won't convert your code but you can validate it to see where the errors are that need to be changed.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Max, HTML5 is backwards compatible with all the earlier versions of HTML, so if some markup was valid in e.g. version 4, it won't be marked as an error. If you want to convert your site to HTML5, you'll have to do it manually, or do a google search for 'convert to html5'.

Thanks Rolly and Inger for your quick replies. Problem solved.

Hai, I am new to HTML5. I have html files, how to convert than manually those files as a html5 format? If I change it what is the benefit I can get from this? (Security wise)
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
