I'm considering Visual Site Designer and/or HTML Editor software now that I can't run my old editor under Win7.
I've been maintaining my web page,
www.ucosm.com/helicopter
for 13 years with the old Visual Page editor from Symantec. It simply won't install on WIN7, or the virtual XP mode, so I'm forced to buy new software.
Visual page allowed seamless composing in either WYSIWYG or HTML, although I never had need to use the HTML side in all those years.
I'm evaluating CoffeeCup software now, and am hoping someone can advise if I can automatically import my existing website and start maintaining it with CoffeeCup, so I won't have to rebuild it (it's quite extensive).
I still don't want to learn HTML or whatever they call it nowadays, so I think VSD might be the ticket, if I don't have to start over.
Old website, new operating system -...
Hi Mark,
If you settle on VSD, the visual editor from CoffeeCup, I'm afraid you can't open your old pages. You'll have to start over from scratch.
With the HTML Editor you can import your old site, but you would have to deal with HTML code.
After having taken a look at the code and having run it through a validator, it threw some 14 errors, and it seems to me as being old code anyway. I would recommend starting out afresh with whichever programme you choose.
If you run into problem with the programme you choose, we're enough people here who will help you out

J,
I would suggest VSD because it is a WYSIWYG Editor which would be to your best benefit. With HTML Editor you would have to learn the code and how to incorporate it into your site... AND... I believe they are still running the sale if you buy 6 months of S-Drive your get VSD Free... So you might want to jump on that.
